The Congregatings (formerly known as the TBKers) meets twice a month and our programs and current event sessions are open to all!

2nd Thursday of each month:  Current events discussion. at 12:00 noon.  Brown bag lunch at 11:30 a.m.

4th Thursday of each month:  Lectures by local speakers.  Brown bag lunch at 12:00 noon, program begins at 12:15 p.m.

Congregatings is an important community resource that meets for a lunch and learn session at noon, usually on the fourth Thursday of the month, except when other priorities interfere.  The group has met for over 25 years and in 2016 added a Current Events lunch and discussion on the second Thursday of each month. The Current Events format is for the moderator to bring 1 or 2 subjects for discussion of ~40 minutes followed by topics that the members bring to discuss. Over the years we have addressed many topics in our lunch and learn sessions presented by a diverse group of speakers recently including Ward Stare, Conductor of the RPO, Mark Cuddy, Artistic Director of Geva, Arnie Rothstein, CEO of RBTL, Chris Bensch, Director of Acquisitions of the Strong Museum.

*Brown bag lunches - Please, no pork or shellfish, no mixing of meat and dairy.

Parashat

Parashat Shemot
January 18, 2020

The new Pharaoh does not remember Joseph, and makes the Israelites his slaves. Pharaoh then demands that all Israelite baby boys be killed at birth. Moses’ mother puts her son in a basket in the river, and he is saved by Pharaoh’s daughter. As an adult, Moses kills an Egyptian taskmaster who was beating an Israelite slave. Moses flees to Midian and marries Zipporah. God appears before Moses in a burning bush and tells him to free the Israelites from slavery. An apprehensive Moses returns to Egypt, where he and his brother Aaron demand that Pharaoh free the Israelite slaves. Pharaoh refuses, and God promises to punish him.
