Kollel Sunday Series - A Project to Record Family Histories

Sunday, December 9th  (Bagels at 9:30/Lecture at 10)

After spending the last 6 years in San Francisco, Zach Ellis - a Brighton native, bar mitzvah'd at Temple Sinai - recently moved back to Rochester to start TheirStory (www.theirstory.org).  Stemming from a personal project recording his own parents telling their life stories and reflecting on their legacy, Zack created TheirStory - a website where people in different places can record and archive meaningful conversations (think Facebook + Ancestry).  You can read more about TheirStory at www.theirstory.io/about-us as well as see Zach's lessons learned and example questions from recording his own parents at www.theirstory.io/getting-started.

Parashat Behar

In this Torah portion, God describes the laws surrounding resting the land and crops every seven years, as well as the Jubilee year every 50 years. God permits the use of slaves but provides stipulations including the obligation to eventually free your slaves.
